First start only minutes away... finally

After a lay-day yesterday fleetracing is going to start only minutes from now. Yesterday the team had a lay day with a lots of swimming in the sea and big focus on drinking loads of water.

Largest flag in town.

In the evening the open ceremony was held in the marina of Limassol. To the delight of the greek-speeking sailors lots of local highnesses (president, minister of defence, commander of the navy) were giving long speeches in greek ... the other 250 sailors did not seem that interessted. Our team left the ceremony a little earlier to get dinner and a good night sleep.

Wednesday, First race day - typically the wind is from the opposite direction from all the training days. The prognosis is that the wind should "swing" right and increase slightly. Lets hope for that. After wake up call 8.45 and breakfast the sailors went to the club. They prepared the boats and had a "security" go through with Team Lead Marcus. All to avoid the risk of unecessary penalty points due to not fastened bailers, to loose sail ties etc. Ton had the team gathered for a a final go-through of the weather conditions, starting opions and tactics. Five very focused and slightly nervous sailors left the beach around 11.30. Equally nervous parents follow the races now from land:
